ClassLink- Customized for your classroom

ClassLink is a  password management resource for laptop or iPad that reduces the barrier of login time in the classroom for our students.  It is a benefit for our face-to-face learners and also our remote learners.

Students and teachers launched 92 different apps in ClassLink in the last month.

Our most used ClassLink resources in the last month include:

Prodigy - Students credentials are entered just once

XtraMath - Students credentials are entered just once on their first visit

Freckle - no password is needed for any K-8 student.  This is tied in with Infinite Campus rosters.

BookFlix - this is pre-loaded for all  students.

MobyMax - no password is needed for any K-8 student.

Davis Library Catalog - this is connected to Alexandria

Bailey Park 2nd Grade Website - this is a Google Site with classroom resources

       myPLTW -  student curriculum resources

Here are the different types of websites that we can include:
-> a  website where there is no login. such as a class Google Site
-> everyone has the same username/password, such as TrueFlix
-> everyone has a different login, such as XtraMath
-> accounts can be tied in with Infinite Campus and automatically create logins, such as Freckle

For new resources, we can work with you to create a streamlined experience for your students.  Let's visit about how we can reduce the disruptions of student logins for your classroom resources.   Please let me know as you have questions.

Click here to get started on your laptop.  By iPad, the ClassLink app may be found in Self Service.  You will log in using your school Gmail account.

We recently added a Roster Server to our tools, too.  With it, we can take managed accounts and pre-load them into ClassLink.  This is really nice because student accounts are synced with Infinite Campus every night, saving an enormous amount of work and stress for students, teachers, and  tech support.

Mackinvia, Freckle, and Mobymax are connected to our Roster Server so far, with several others in the works.

Loom - iPad Fix

We have found that a handful of students have troubles viewing Loom videos either at home or school.
This appears to be a quick fix.

Loom is widely used in our District for screen recording work in classroom lessons.

____________________________

A second option:

Another 'fix' that may help-

Open Self Service -> Reinstall iBoss -> Now restart your iPad

We  appreciate feedback about this workflow on your device.

_____________________________

A third option:

In your iPad Settings, please make sure that both of these items are checked:

Settings -> Passwords (and Accounts) -> Auto-Fill -> Turn on AutoFill -> check both items

Your iPad will either have 'Passwords' or 'Passwords and Accounts' as a menu option.

PLTW Launch Login Updates

Earlier this year Project Lead the Way changed the way that students and teachers log into their classroom resources.  With that change, we can now use ClassLink to log in.

Open the ClassLink iPad app.

Tap on  the myPLTW (Student)  icon
This step only needs to be done once..

Enter your username and password.

For PLTW Launch (K-4) students, I can create shared login credentials so the everyone in the class can use the same username/password.

See me for details.
(This is new for fall, 2020)

The username IS case-sensitive.  If your iPad capitalizes the first letter, be sure to delete it before proceeding.
Tap on the Courses icon in the upper left corner
Students may navigate here to any of their unit materials.

Our District uses PLTW's innovative and engaging classroom resources with all students in grades K-4, and also at the middle school in a computer science course.  This is an exciting year, too,  since the long-awaited new modules have been added to complete the alignment of all Next Generation Science Standards for grades K-4.  The coursework also meets the State of Iowa recommendations for Computer Science for elementary students and aligns with many math and language arts standards.

In the past, having students type in usernames/passwords was a barrier to using the digital resources.  PLTW offers print resources for class situations where there is limited technology available.   With this arrangement now, once a student is logged in for the first time through ClassLink, their credentials will be 'remembered'.  This may help in creating an engaging classroom environment, while limiting contact with students.

On that note, click here to review the PLTW recommendations for remote learning and face-to-face learning.  This has been sent out by PLTW in recent weeks to all classroom trained teachers.

Teachers:  Please let me know if you would like accounts created for your class.
Students can now log in with a  'Shared' username and password.  This means that we don't have  to  create and individual account for every student anymore.   The entire class can use the same username/password combination.
