Zoom - Getting Students Connected on iPad

Zoom is a videoconference tool that our teachers frequently use with remote learning.

Here are the basics to getting connected to a Zoom meeting:
(The video is less than 3 minutes long)

Before getting started, make sure that the Zoom app is installed on the device.

On our student iPads, this may be found in Self Service.
Teachers will be sharing out more than one way to connect to their Zoom Room.  Use what works best for you.
Every meeting has an ID and Passcode.

Teachers may re-use this same code for every meeting.
Teachers may share out a direct link from a website or document.

Tap on the link to open the Zoom Room.
Every student iPad can 'read' a QR Code directly from the Camera App.

1. Open the Camera App.
2. Point the iPad at the code.
3. Tap on the link that pops up.

If you have difficulties, please contact your teacher or send a request to techhelp@grinnell-k12.org

We will work to make sure that you are successful.

Common errors:

When opening Zoom for the first time, it may ask to access to the camera and microphone.

If you select 'Don't Allow' you will NOT be able to use the camera or microphone with Zoom.

If you are getting a pop up like this, it is related to signing in to Zoom.
You should not need to sign in to join a Zoom meeting.
It is not recommended, but the host can turn this on so that all participants do need to sign in.
